Coypwrite 2008 Chinese Boxing Institute International

About Us

Chinese Boxing Institute International was founded in 1981 by Mr. Christopher G. Casey. After serving as Chief Liason Officer for the Koushu Federation Republic of China both in the United States and Europe for ten years, Mr. Casey, with an impressive Board of Advisers, began this organization with the goal to teach, research and preserve the Chinese Boxing Energy related arts. These arts are useful vehicles in the pursuit of truth related to realistic martial art.

The Board of Directors that Mr. Casey put together consisted of: Shen Mou Hui (Shaolin Temple Boxing, Hsing-i), Tao Ping Siang (Tai Chi Chuan, Water Style), Lo Man Kam (Yim Wing Chun). Other Teachers and advisers included Chang Dain Moar (Hoong Men Huei), Wang Shu Shen (Pakua, Hsing-i), Y. C. Tan (Tai Chi Chuan), P. C. Hsieh (Chin na), S.C. Tsi (Tai Chi Chuan), S.Y. Chen (Fukien White Crane), Liao Wu Chang (Monkey Boxing), and Takauki Kamura (Jeet Kune Do).

In December of 1986 Mr. Casey died and the CBII was then led by his senior student James Cravens. Mr. Manfred Steiner, Mr. Casey's other senior student continued to teach in Europe. Today, Detlef Zimmerman in Hannover, West Germany continues the CBII studies. James Cravens directs Chinese Boxing Institute International activities in the United States. The various curricululms of CBII are taught and in recent years Chen Tai Chi has been added to the curriculums due to Mr. Cravens studying with Chen Xiaowang.

Our sessions with Master Chen in Laojia go back about six years. As always Master Chen is a great pleasure to watch demonstrate and his posture corrections have always been a great highlight of his teaching.

Jim Attias, a CBII student is a computer artist and does many illustrations paintings etc. on the computer. He prints these as well. To look at his work, he has sent me a tribute picture of Audie Murphy, the famous war hero and actor.
